About Accounting & Financial Women's Alliance Richmond Chapter
AFWA was formed in 1938 to increase the opportunities for women in all fields of accounting and finance. The first chapter was chartered in Indianapolis, Indiana. AFWA members work at all levels of the accounting and financial services professions—from individual practitioners to entry- and top-level positions in industry and government, and from juniors to partners in major accounting firms. Members include partners in national, regional, and local CPA firms; financial officers; controllers; academicians; financial analysts and data processing consultants; students and recent college graduates; and women returning to the work force.
The Richmond Chapter was formed in 1949, with 11 charter members. Today the Richmond Chapter continues to be a strong chapter that brings together women across the accounting and finance fields. Members in our chapter learn from one another, network with one another, and give back to the community as a group.
The Mission of the Accounting & Financial Women's Alliance (AFWA) is to "enable women in all accounting and related fields to achieve their full personal, professional and economic potential and to contribute to the future development of their profession."
