FRIENDSHIP – EDUCATION – PARTICIPATION
With more than 150 members, over a dozen Interest Groups and several Project/Special Event Committees, CFUW Belleville & District is one of the most active CFUW Clubs in Canada.
Membership is open to all women who support the objectives and purposes of CFUW.
A VITAL COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION SINCE 1939
As Stated in CFUW Belleville and District’s Constitution:
1. To assist in developing sound educational values and maintaining high standards of public education in Canada; and to encourage advanced study and research by women graduates.
2. To arouse and sustain among members an intelligent interest in aspects of public affairs in the political, social, cultural and scientific fields; to encourage an active participation in such affairs by qualified women; and to provide an opportunity for effectual, concerted action.
3. To foster a sense of responsibility and encourage women graduates to place their education and professional training at the service of the community in local, national and international fields; to be concerned with human rights and, at the same time, to safeguard and improve the economic, legal and professional status of Canadian women.
4. To take action in concert with the International Federation of University Women, of which the Canadian Federation of University Women is a member; to effect change at the international level; and to encourage friendship, cooperation and understanding among university women graduates worldwide.
