About Canadian Federation of University Women Etobicoke
The Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) Etobicoke Chapter was established in 1952. From the initial ten charter members, the Club has grown to almost 250+ members. CFUW Etobicoke includes a diverse group of active women with varied interests. The Club offers speakers at our monthly meetings, learning events through our 40 interest groups and opportunities to develop new friendships for women in all stages of life. Our club is one of 97 clubs across Canada with 7871 members.
Our Mission is to continue to enhance our role as a national, bilingual, independent organization striving to promote equality, social justice, fellowship and life-long learning for women and girls.
Our Vision is of a strong national organization working to ensure that all girls and women have equal opportunities and equal access to quality education within a peaceful and secure environment where their human rights are respected. Our vision includes a world where poverty is reduced, discrimination eliminated, where there are equal opportunities for leadership, employment, income, education, careers and the ability to maximize potential.
Our Purpose is to arouse and sustain among members an intelligence in public affairs in the educational, cultural, political, social, and related fields. To encourage members to place their education and training at the service of the community. To afford members an opportunity to express collective opinion and to take group action locally, nationally, and internationally in educational, cultural, political, social, and related fields. To promote the continuing education and the improvement of the status of women. To facilitate fellowship and cooperation among women.
