About Canadian Federation of University Women Kanata
CFUW, Canadian Federation of University Women, is an international organization of women with national, provincial, and local chapters. Most members have graduated from post-secondary educational institutions, but it is not necessary to have a university degree to join a CFUW club.
CFUW/Kanata is a non-partisan, self-funded, non-profit group committed to
- Promoting education and lifelong learning
- Advocating for women's equality and human rights
- Active participation in public affairs at all levels
Our local chapter includes more than 100 members who work together in a spirit of cooperation and friendship. We connect women in our community with each other to share friendship, knowledge, resources, and networks in order to strengthen communities locally and globally. We share our knowledge and friendship through our specialized Interest and service groups. Over twenty groups provide opportunities to develop bridge skills, learn mah-jongg, discuss books, sing, learn to play the guitar, advocate for social justice, go to new movies, become a gourmet cook, enhance artistic skills, visit local places of interest, and more.
