About Canadian Federation of University Women Strathcona County

We are a member club in a national organization of clubs. In Canada there are 100 CFUW clubs with over 7000 members.

CFUW is a voluntary, non-partisan club that works to improve the status of women and girls through education, advocacy and friendship.

Our members work to achieve the CFUW mandate by:
- Supporting the education of girls and women locally and internationally
- Participating in lifelong learning opportunities, community action projects and advocacy on issues affecting women and girls
- Providing friendship and social activities for women in our community

CFUW was founded in 1919. A number of clubs were formed in Alberta over the years; however, a club did not exist in Sherwood Park. In 1988, a few dedicated local women brought together their energy, dedication and vision to form the Strathcona County CFUW Club.
