About INCITE!

INCITE! is a national network of radical feminists of color dedicated to mobilizing comprehensive strategies against violence affecting women, gender non-conforming, and trans people of color. Operating across multiple chapters and affiliates throughout Michigan and beyond, INCITE! addresses the full spectrum of violence—from state-sanctioned violence including police brutality, war, and colonialism to interpersonal violence such as sexual and domestic abuse within communities. The organization's approach integrates grassroots organizing with strategic advocacy, recognizing that true liberation requires simultaneous action against both community and state violence. Since its founding in 2000, INCITE! has established itself as a leading force in developing intersectional analyses that center the experiences of women of color survivors. The network mobilizes through direct action, public art campaigns, political education, and community-based projects designed to nurture the health and well-being of communities of color across Michigan and nationally. INCITE! has hosted transformative conferences including The Color of Violence series, published critical anthologies, and developed innovative frameworks for understanding violence through an intersectional lens. By supporting grassroots organizing efforts and amplifying the voices of affected communities, INCITE! works toward global justice, liberation, and peace. The organization's commitment to radical feminist principles ensures that all efforts prioritize the leadership and agency of the most impacted communities in Michigan and beyond.
