About Monterey County Women Lawyers Association

Monterey County Women Lawyers Association supports the welfare of women in the legal profession, the judiciary, and the Monterey Bay community. Works to eliminate discrimination based on sex. Fosters mutual support and cooperation among MCWLA members, the legal community, and the judiciary. Awards scholarships to students enrolled in law school. Provides continuing legal education to members of the legal community.

The purposes for which MCWLA was formed include stimulating interest in and encouraging the discussion of legal issues of concern to women and promoting the welfare and common interests of women in the legal profession, the judiciary, and the community. Additionally, our organization is designed to provide a space for collective action and expression in these matters.

MCWLA was founded by a group of trail-blazing women attorneys in 1981. Not only do they promote the common interest of women in the legal profession and the judiciary, but also support each other through cooperation and service to the community.
