About National Conference of Women's Bar Associations

The National Conference of Women’s Bar Associations (NCWBA) is a unique organization of women’s bar associations, for women’s bar associations, representing approximately 35,000 women lawyers. It provides a national forum for exchanging ideas and information vital to organizational growth and success in today’s profession.

Membership in the NCWBA is reserved for women’s bar associations, sections and committees. Today’s NCWBA is an “association of associations.” For leaders of women’s bar associations, active participation in the NCWBA is an easy way to access the wisdom and experience of peers in other states and provinces, to give or get inspiration and to keep up with the challenges faced by those who juggle the competing concerns of law practice, bar leadership and personal life.

The NCWBA is an affiliate of the American Bar Association, with a vote in the ABA House of Delegates. Representation in the ABA House of Delegates adds our collective voice to the debate and vote on many key ABA resolutions. Additionally, the NCWBA works closely with the ABA sections and commissions, as well as with other ABA affiliate organizations.

The NCWBA advocates for equality in the legal profession and in society by mobilizing and uniting women’s bar associations to effect change in gender-based processes and laws by providing a national forum for exchanging ideas, best practices, and information vital to the organizational growth and success of women’s bar organizations and the legal profession.

NCWBA is dedicated to advancing the interests of women in the legal profession through education, programming, and networking.

NCWBA is committed to the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion and to ensuring that the legal profession and the justice system accurately reflect the communities they serve.
