About Network of East - West Women

Founded in 1991, The Network of East-West Women (NEWW) strengthens the capacity of women activists and women's NGOs in Central and Eastern Europe, the Newly Independent States and the Russian Federation (CEE/NIS) to raise awareness of gender issues and influence public policy affecting women's lives.

The Network of East-West Women links women across national and regional boundaries to share resources, knowledge and skills. NEWW's mission is to support the growth of grassroots women's movements in Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Europe, the Newly Independent States and the Russian Federation (CEE/NIS). With members in more than 30 countries, NEWW is among the largest and most respected networks in CEE/NIS, and is a trusted source of expertise, resources and information about gender in democratizing societies. By supporting the formation and sustainability of independent women's movements, NEWW helps women and women's NGOs influence policy regarding women's lives.
