About Provincial Council of Women of Ontario

The aim of the Council of Women is to work for the betterment of conditions pertaining to women, family, community and society.

Members try to accomplish this through interest and action in such areas as economics, education, health, environment, housing, justice, status of women, social development and seniors’ issues.

PCWO is an affiliate of the National Council of Women of Canada, which was founded in 1893 by Lady Aberdeen.

The National Council of Women of Canada has Consultative Status (II) with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.

Since 1897, the National Council of Women of Canada has been in federation with the International Council of Women, and is one of the 72 National Councils of Women worldwide.

At the provincial level PCWO has focused on empowering women of all ages to lead and advocate for positive change in the workplace, marketplace, government and their communities.
